You have to use the back USB 2 ports to install drivers. Instead of booting with the Win7 DVD, use a Win8.x DVD and see if the keyboard/mouse works. That should NOT matter - but with this being a brand new build, it might. Pull that hard drive, connect to a working computer and download all the files you need on to the laptops hard drive. Both were disabled. I had to slipstream the usb drivers into my Win7 install drive, and it went through without problem.

I try the keyboard. Update the BIOS to the latest version. This is fundamentally different and incompatible to machine code and firmware level instructions used by the devices to communicate with one another. I have no working ports within Windows so how can I install BC?

Trick to FixThe easiest way that may resolve the problem is hold down power button for 30 seconds or so. to find your hard drive for downloads in Mint go to options in firefox and choose your place to download drivers, just pick the biggest drive!
