When I change the boot sequence to USB, then I get the error message ‘operating system missing' and a flashing cursor. It seems to have spontaneously become RAW after restart. Specs: OS: Windows XP. This might occur if you have tried to install another operating system alongside Windows 7, such as Windows XP.

When you select windows 7 it starts recovery cd. You may also receive further errors after trying to repair the bcd store using bootrec and bcdedit as follows.
