try to reboot your computer in safe mode with networking and check your internet is working or not. However, after thinking more on it I don't think one system bootloader grabs the IP and the other then can't use it, and if so,then it would be more likely a Success! I disable WOL (wake-on-lan) of power management in Wiondws 8 and then it works in Ubuntu.
