Searched around for a solution for few hours. On top of disabling O2xxx services I need to do one more thing to fix the issue on my Dell E5440 - change BIOS. Saved us a lot of time. It was frustrating to troubleshoot. All that remains is the log-in screen that you can neither move your mouse nor enter the tty mode.

Before posting this thread i did a bit of research, some saying that this is caused by large sata drives(i ve got 2 samsung 1TB satas with raid 0) and i I've seen many posts that recommended changing the Bios's ACPI settings to S1 or S3. Brilliant! have a peek here Worked for me, too.

Then I went to the bios setup -> peripherals -> audio controller, and changed its settings from "auto" to "enabled".
