This is different than file backups which can restore personal documents, etc but cannot restore your OS. Instructions for capturing the logs were sent by TonyW a few posts earlier. Also you will need to download and install a pdf reader, adobe flash and your browser if it is not Explorer. Help Please!

When I try to start Windows normally and try to delete the saved restore points, it is only a matter of 1 minute before the BSOD decides to show up. If there is no rootkit present, then the OP can come back here and progress here with the analysis. I'd rather just get a different antivirus.
Sometimes Norton can leave old engines in Program Files in spite of running the removal tool and this can can cause conflicts. And they also back up your important personal documents at the same time. This may or may not be able to resolve your registry depending on how severe the problem is and exactly what part of the registry has become damaged. I'm not keen on reproducing the error just to get the error code, since I have uninstalled Norton.
I will post back as soon as I can. Safe mode, restoring to an earlier point and other advance recovery tools are not working. You really have a choice of which utility you like better and you should go with that one but not have both installed. Also, i ordered windows 7, do you think it is safe to upgrade?
This was identified as a problem with Norton Quick Scans that followed LiveUpdate.
